Our Services
We pride ourselves on giving honest advice. Our main goal is to achieve an open and honest dialogue with our customers to find out what service best suits your needs, your budget and the wellbeing of the tree and its surroundings. No two jobs are the same, but listed below are some of the services we provide with a brief description of how they may be the solution you are looking for.
Crown Reductions
A crown reduction makes the crown of the tree (the top bit with leaves on it!) smaller. This may be done to let more light into a garden or to maintain a cherished tree at a certain size so it doesn't grow to big for its surroundings. A good crown reduction should leave the crown of the tree as neat, even and symmetrical as possible. A crown reduction is achieved by climbing the tree and pruning each branch in to the desired point.

Crown lifting
During a crown lift the lowest limbs of the tree will be pruned, this will raise the height of the crown from the ground. A crown lift would be performed to keep low hanging branches out of the way to maintain access to beneath the tree or to allow more light into the surrounding area. A crown lift is often a more budget friendly way of achieving more light into a garden compare to a crown reduction, while also minimising the impact of pruning on the tree.
Deadwood Removal
Fairly self explanatory, the removal of dead branches from the canopy of the tree. Although deadwood provides valuable habitat to many different species, sometimes it is necessary to remove it. Falling deadwood can pose a hazard to people and property alike.
Pollarding
Pollarding involves removing all of the leafy growth of a tree. Sometimes reducing the overall size of the tree by more than half, leaving a framework of branches for the tree to regrow from. Pollarding is an effective way of severely reducing the size of a tree and has been a tried and tested way of maintaining our nations trees for centuries. Some trees can't be pollarded, others respond to it very well indeed. In the right situation it can transform a tree too large for its setting that may otherwise require removing, into a tree that is easy and cheap to maintain.

Tree Removal
Sometimes sadly a tree is just in an inappropriate position or due to disease it becomes dangerous and must be removed. Tree removal can come in the form of felling the whole tree from the ground or more usually being climbed and dismantled piece by piece in a controlled manner.

Storm Damage
Storm damage can be obvious, when a whole tree is blown over it is hard to miss. It can also be more subtle and harder to spot. Trees roots can partially fail causing it to lean at an angle perhaps supported by other nearby trees, individual limbs may fail and remain hanging precariously in the canopy. However obvious the issue, storm damage often needs to be rectified. It can also be one of the trickier and less predicable sides of tree surgery, requiring caution, experience and the right equipment. Baker tree services not only has extensive experience in dealing with storm damaged trees but also provides a 24hr callout service in times of high wind.

Stump Removal
Stumps left over after a tree is removed can get in the way of your latest garden project, can potentially regrow back into a tree or can just be plain unsightly. Stump removal or stump grinding is an effective way of removing a tree stump. It uses a machine called a stump grinder that drives a large metal wheel with teeth on it. This wheel grinds the stump into a mixture of woodchips and soil, leaving the ground ready for building, turfing, future planting or whatever else you may have planned for it. Here at Baker Tree Services we have larger machines able to tackle stumps of any size, down to the smallest stump grinder available, that can be carried under your arm to even the most difficult to access stumps.
